Hello,I'm a eighth grader at a large middle school in north carolina. I was just wondering is it too early to start thinking about going to college.I already know what college i want to go to <bu>. Also i know i want to be a clinical psychologist. My older brother says it too early, but i highly doubt that. So i wanted to know what do you think?</bu>

It’s technically never too early to think about colleges, but you really don’t want to stress yourself out too much. Just focus on doing well in your classes, take a rigorous curriculum, participate in extra curricular’s and enjoy high school! The start of your Junior year is when you can start planning where you want to go/what you want to do. And you never know, your years in high school may change what you want to do. For example, my freshmen year I wanted to go into culinary, but now I’m applying to schools for mechanical engineering! Try not to worry about it too much at your age.

Another thing that it is not too early for, is to start talking with your parents about where the money for your education will come from. By the time you enroll in college, places like BU may have total costs of attendance of more than $60,000 each year. Will your family be able to pay for that, or will you need to have a scholarship?

If you know now that attending the college of your dreams means that you have to get a really big scholarship, you can plan your life so that you have time to take the classes, and earn the grades, that will get you that kind of money.

Wishing you all the best.
