Got deferred from Wharton and brokenhearted. I already got into my state school (Wisconsin), but I still want to go to a decent business school and see how much money I can get from Michigan. You guys think I can get into Ross and receive around 20,000 a year with a 33 ACT 3.8 GPA if I apply within a week?

Just apply. It's worth a shot.

You will probably get into LSA, possibly Ross as a pre-admit depending on your essays and ECs, but you will most likely NOT receive a 20k/year scholarship unless you are an URM or are from an under-represented state, or you are just flat-out freakin' amazing.

Apply, and see what happens.

What kind of people get the 20K scholarship?

It may be too late for a 20k scholarship because the money is rolling (unless I misunderstood my adcom when she visited my school 2 months ago) so who knows how much money is left. Wisconsin is a fine institution, and I can see why you would not want to pay more to go to Michigan. Just apply and see what happens. My friend was an M+T admit (wharton + SEAS at Penn) and got a full ride to Mich. He is happy at Mich right now.

Generally speaking, students who get large merit scholarships from Michigan are close to perfect statistically, like 1500+ SAT scores/34+ ACT scores with close to 4.0 unweighed GPAs and top of the class.
