I just started thinking about applying to UMich (probably the business school). But, I'm not sure if it is too late to apply because it is rolling admissions. I know some people from my school who have already sent their Michigan apps in. I'm also applying ED to Penn, so I have to work on that application first.

Do you think it would make sense to apply to Michigan if I don't get my app in till the middle or end of November? Would I even have a chance? Thanks.

My buddy applied the day before the deadline in Feb. when we were seniors in high school and got in, then I had a friend in high school last year that applied in November and got in so I don't think its too late.

UMrunner and BenT, your experiences were limited to one individual. By and large, applicants have a better chance if they apply early, especially this year, when Michigan is expected to take in a smaller class.

ihatestress, you would have been slightly better off had you applied in September, if only from a tactical point of view. But it is not too late too apply...not by a long shot. I would say November is when it starts getting late.

"Clearly" is a subjective word. But I would say that those who apply in the late August-late September time frame have better odds than those who apply after Halloween.

It really depends on the applicant. Exemplary applicants are going to be admitted no matter when they apply (just about). Your chances do decline as you wait, but how much they decline depends on where you fall in the admit pool in terms of your academic profile and general "admissability."

With some types of students, it's absolutely true that the same student applying in January wouldn't get in, although they would've been admitted had they applied in October. But that's not true for all kinds of students. And no, I can't tell by posted stats whether you're the kind on applicant for whom the date of application makes a huge difference. Especially not this year.
