Is it true that PSU/Jefferson does not give any merit aid?

I am from Florida and I hate to pay OOS tuition. Can any one fill me in? I will not even bother applying if they do not give any scholarships.

Satacer - Good luck in whatever you choose to do. It is important at the end of the day to be happy with the program, financially but also from an education perspective.

I don’t think PSU undergrad gives scholarships. I remember I applied there, was accepted, and then heard nothing from them about scholarships while other comparable or more highly ranked schools gave me significant merit $.

This is untrue. I got plenty of aid during my 2 years at undergrad, and also received the program’s half-tuition scholarship at Jefferson.

beeitch,

1) How much did you get each year for undergrad? What is your stats?

2) Are you in-state or out-of-state student?

3) What are the criteria for getting the program’s half-tuition scholarship at Jefferson.

4) For Fall 2011, no more Schreyer Honors College Scholarship for BS/MD student! So what do you think my son (out-of-state) will get with his following stats:

SAT1=2250
ACT=35
SAT2: Math = 800, Chemistry = 800, Bio = 740, Physics = 740
GPA=4.32 (Unweighted)

Thank for your response!

PS: According to the following post, there isn’t a lot of money available for incoming freshman.

I received approximately half tuition every semester after my first summer at PSU as an out of state student. I believe the aid I was given was based primarily on my grades I earned in undergrad (my GPA was 3.96 at the end of my 2 years).

out of state

In regards to the half tuition scholarship at Jefferson, it is awarded to only one student per program year. My year had approximately 20 students. The criteria is based mostly on grades, activities/merit things, and especially financial need.

The honors college scholarship was, as far as I know, never available to us BS/MD students in the past anyhow. And based on all those numbers you provided your kid stands a very good chance of getting into this program
