I have noticed a lot of people take AP language exams even though the are native speakers in my school.

I thought it wouldn't be useful since you can let a college know you are bilingual in your application and they would take notice.

But, does anyone know how beneficial it would be to take an AP exam if I am a native speaker?

It’s not necessarily beneficial to you since you really aren’t learning anything new, but academics-wise, you can get college credit for it. Though most natives don’t take their own native language in college anyway…

You should take it because it proves your proficiency.

Ohoho… of course take it!

If you didn’t move to the US after 7th grade, then a good AP score can translate to foreign language requirements- and if you’ve met those, any university would like multilinguals anyways.

The foreign language APs (especially Chinese and Japanese) have notoriously high averages… and are quite a burden for those learning them. Tests are made harder to account for the average… but anyways, that’s off topic.
