I'll be attending transfer orientation at Ohio State in June. I'm 21 so i'm not an extremely old transfer student, but I was wondering... is it normal for parents to attend transfer orientation? I wouldn't mind my mom being there, but at the same time, I don't NEED her there. What do you think?

and i don’t know if it’s embarrassing to have a parent there at 21. haha

Well, I’m a mom, and my son is going to transfer for fall also, he is 20, and I plan on going to orientation. He doesn’t need me there true, but I don’t see anything wrong with it, it’s not like I’m gonna hold his hand or anything, just wanna see where he will be spending the next two years.

@ddotjon okay thanks. for Ohio state as well?

Happykid’s university has special parent sessions at the transfer orientation, so we went along. The students had a fuller schedule than the parents did, so we did have to wait around until they finished. And her lunch was free, but we had to pay for ours. Still it was a chance to see what the dining hall had on offer, and Happydad enjoyed the unlimited desserts!

My daughter has asked me to go with her to an admitted transfer student day at UCSB. The invitation indicates it is for students and families so I guess this is why she asked me to go; however, this is not the same as Transfer Orientation…she is going to that with a friend transferring from another UC.

I don’t think so. When I transfer to university my mom will be there for sure during orientation.
