I interviewed on-campus at a college last week, and my parents want me to attach a copy of my resume to my thank-you e-mail to my interviewer. Is this standard protocol or too much?
Did you discuss this with the interviewer? Did s/he say you should submit some more information?
I thought you were supposed to bring the resume with you during the interview in case you needed it. If they didn’t want a resume, then don’t give it to them.
Not necessary unless the interviewer requested it. It’s just more paper. Your application already contains everything in your resume. The reason some people bring a resume to the interview is to help the interviewer find areas of their background that might be discussion-worthy. Since you already interviewed, it’s not needed. Of course, if it makes your parents feel better, it’s a trivial thing to agree to and won’t hurt you.
It is typical to bring the resume to your interview so you can use it as a jumping point for discussion. I would think that the interviewer already wrote up your interview and would have no real interest in seeing your resume at this point (unless it was requested during your interview). But I don’t think it would be a big deal either way.
Generally it is best to follow the normal applications channel…in your case I would send the thank you note and include the fact that you have a resume you could send if they find that helpful. If they do not reply, then just make sure all the info in your resume is included in your common app
