Is it worth bothering to apply?

I would really like to apply to Dartmouth because I feel like it could be a good place for me, but I'm afraid that it's so far out of my reach that it's not even worth the application fee. My GPA is a 3.93 out of 4.0, 2260 SATs (740 math, 740 reading, 780 writing), and a 700 biology SATII, 710 us history, and 730 math 1. I've taken pretty much all honors/AP classes throughout high school. My school doesn't rank. My extracurriculars and athletics are good and solid, but I don't have any overwhelming hook; same goes for my recommendations. I'm a white female and I go to a fairly competitive public school in CT.

I know this looks like a "chance" post (and maybe it is, haha) but mainly I'm just looking for some guidance as to whether or not my prospects would be completely hopeless. I know I would be far away from having a decent chance, don't worry! Dartmouth would definitely be my biggest reach, other than Duke, perhaps. Thanks for your help!

I don’t think your prospects look completely hopeless, especially if that’s an unweighted GPA.

Not only that, but if you really like the school, why wouldn’t you apply to see if you can get in? If the alternative is going to be always kind of wondering, what do you have to lose by throwing your hat in the ring? Just be realistic that Dartmouth is a reach for everyone.

Be aware that if you do decide to apply, you need to ask someone to do your peer rec at now.

I agree with Green99.
