Is it worth it to transfer into another Engineering school?

I currently attend Cal State L.A. with a major in EE, this is my first year (so far I have 16 credits), and I got a 4.00 during my first quarter.

My options currently are UC schools, since Cal State L.A's undergraduate engineering ranking is pretty high compared to other CSU's.

See here: <a href="http://www.cefns.nau.edu/Academic/CS/misc_docs/UG_engineering_ranking_08.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.cefns.nau.edu/Academic/CS/misc_docs/UG_engineering_ranking_08.pdf</a></p>

I heard that for the transferring process, i can only apply once i have attained 90 credits which I plan on doing before Fall of 2013, so when I apply it will be during Fall of 2013 to try to get admitted into Fall of 2014, right? In which case I will only be spending one academic year at the new institution.

My options have UCLA, UC Berkely, CalTech, UCSB,UCSD, and UCI.

Please correct me if I'm wrong at any point of the post. I'd appreciate it if you guys could fill me in with your honest opinions.

I think 90 is the max at most UC schools, not the min. Caltech probably doesn’t care as they’re private. You should check out the schools’ individual transfer websites.
