Is it worth it?

Also, is Co-Op worth it? I know I want to become a doctor, so is adding an extra year worth it at the end? I mean I have med school and then residency and all that good stuff. I wouldn't do one year co op if i do co op. I would do the three year making me graduate in 5 years.

Clinical experience is basically required for med school. 18 months working at a hospital or somewhere similar would boost your chances of acceptance. It would also set you on your path in med school. After 18 months working in the health profession seeing the pros/cons to each area should give you an idea of what field of medicine you want to focus on.

Obviously it is your decision. Medical school takes up many years of your life. Either way you will need clinical experience for your applications. That could either be volunteering on the weekends or, with co-op, getting paid to work and gain experience in the health field.

i would suggest you don’t go to drexel if u want to pursue medical fields. it will take forever for you to actually get a job; you wanna get started right away! so no need to waste 1 yr on co-ops no matter how valuable it is to ur resume

If you have strong financial aid, do 5 years. Honestly, you’ll be happy to have the extra experience. It’s actually possible to graduate in 4 years on the 5-year plan if you overload on courses, if you feel you need to. One year of your life preparing for med school will not matter in the long run. If you’re taking out loans, however, just do 4 years and ignore everything I just said (:

You can do the 5 year plan in 4 years?!
