I have taken APUSH and am in AP Chem this year and taking AP Calc BC, AP Physics, and AP Bio next year. I have a very strong base in sciences and math and plan on going to med school. I have always thought that it was best to take as many AP classes and do well on the tests so you can get college credit and save money/graduate earlier. But I have recently been hearing that especially if going into med/law school or other professional schools it is best to not accept the college credit.

The argument for that is if you get a 4 or 5 in a course like AP Chem or Bio and you are very strong in that subject then it is better to take it again in college and obviously you will be one of the smartest kids in the class and with curves have a guaranteed A if you try (At least for the early classes). This will then pad your GPA and apparently Med schools only look at GPA, MCAT scores, and activities but not what classes you take or where you go to undergraduate.

So I know its best to take these AP classes cause it looks best on transcripts and along with it I will just take the AP tests but should I take credit from colleges even retaking these classes will pad my GPA?
