bigp9998, you have no basis for your argument. Cornell is equal or even more respected than Penn, Dartmouth, and Brown by those in academia. Your hatred for Cornell seems odd. Rejection?

Evidence for this statement?

^^ Tokenadult:

note the Peer Assessment scores for 2008 :) Cornell is equivalent to Columbia and above Upenn, Dartmouth, and Brown :)

what's YOUR evidence for the contrary besides statistics on student preference??? lol (which has NOTHING to do with academia UNLIKE the peer assessment)

Honestly, Cornroll, Columbus, and Dartooth don't have any prestige. And all of the Ivies are overrated.

Yeah right, Hope2getrice. Cornell would be the last place I would want to be (not really, but for emphasis' sake). Again, I'm not saying nobody should go there, it's a terrible place, or anything like that. Just that I personally think it's overrated and the one Ivy that sort of doesn't hold up its weight. My opinion, not yours.

If we're going to talk about the Peer Assessment (survey of over 2000 academics), this is the 2009 ratings:

Harvard, MIT, Stanford (4.9)
Princeton, Yale (4.8)
Berkeley (4.7)
Caltech, Chicago (4.6)
Cornell, Penn, Columbia, Johns Hopkins (4.5)
Duke, Michigan (4.4)
Dartmouth, Northwestern, Brown, Virginia (4.3)

"Let's face it, we all know that Cornell is at the bottom of the Ivy League and often the choice of those who want Ivy but can't get in anywhere else. Not saying that specifically about anybody here, just that it happens quite often. I'd put Chicago, Duke, Georgetown, WUSTL, Northwestern, etc all ahead of Cornell. People hate on Cornell for a reason."

No one "hates on Cornell" except for a handful of geeky, unsure high school seniors with no exposure to the real world or real life.

I take it that the reply to my informational question is an implicit endorsement of the peer assessment ratings. That suggests some non-Ivy colleges outrank some non-Ivy colleges.
