I was just wondering if Limewire is legal or not?

i would guess that it's not. it's the same as kazaa and that other P2P that got sued. napster.

Im pretty sure that the programs themselves are not illegal, but downloading pirated music/movies, etc. through them is illegal.

I don't think it's illegal to have them, but I think it is illegal to download stuff from them.

its definitely illegal, but if you pay for the subscription it is legal.

p2p is legal, downloading copyrighted material is not

...but w/e

it is 100% legal to own limewire, as p2p's DO have legitimate use, so long as what you're downloading and sharing is not copywrited. Using limewire to download a movie or any copyrighted music is illegal though.

is it illegal if you download songs, but dont share any files (you can set it on the options to not share anyhting)

if you dont share then your just being a bad gnutella user...hahaha

even if you dont share the music, YOU STILL DOWNLOADED copywrited material.

so yea thats illegal too...

theres always been talk about blocking code implemented on p2p programs like limewire...ever since that big mgm case...but from the looks of it, it hasnt been put to use, therefore dling is still illegal

it's still illegal, just harder to be caught for.

Limewire is legal, it's what you download that can be illegal. If you download limewire, and download just some video your friend made, then it's legal. If you download limewire and then a ton of copyright music, then what your doing is illegal.

hey i'm an outlaw then!!!

will it be on my permanent record if i apply for harvard next year???

i'm kidding

Oh man! I have Limeware on my computer too! Does this means I cannot use Limeware at UCLA in the coming fall?

So basically if you've ever downloaded a song off the internet that is illegal.

I think you should be careful downloading at college...I've heard of college kids being busted for downloading music/movies while at school.

Whatever, I personally think it's the consumer's vengeance for overpriced entertainment. Digital rebellion!

use bittorent...its better

This guy at my school got busted by the cops from using Limewire.

of course its legal...it helps keep the piracy rate down

but for real...it is legal, but it's when you do illegal things with it...then you become illegal.

the best is when ppl download limewire pro off of limewire - the free edition.

bittorrent is alright...but it really slow...low download rates
