Hey. I recently got into Loyola University in Chicago for its ungrad program. I’m just wondering what all of you think about that place…is it good? bad? Im trying to go into pre med. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Good for what? What med school are you dreaming of? What undergrad major are you looking toward? Good compared to what???

Nope. Rather go to Mississippi State U than Loyola!~

haha, loyola is good school but not that great. It would suck cause Northwestern would be TOWERING right over loyola's crappy campus lol. It's squashed in the corner of chicago next to the paki/indian area. I applied there, got in, got $7500 a yr so that brings it down to 22500 a yr. Its good for premed no doubt, if you do well there theyll get you in. I think 80% get in? but remember that may be for only kids they allow to apply and deny permission to those who they think wont get into med school. But its good, but id rather prefer northwestern or where im going to go anyways U OF MICHIGAN YEA!!

Iwantit, there are many students reading these threads who have great grades and SATs. They are hoping to be admitted to schools which are much more selective than Loyola. That does not make Loyola a bad school for you. Some of those critical students will soon find out that selectivity and reputation don't turn out to be as iimportant for professional / graduate school admission as ones performance while in college. Loyola offers a solid pre-med program plus they have a medical school where you would have preferred standing if you do well in your undergrad studies. If you decide to go there, you will be able to get a great education while living in a wonderful city with lots to do. Don't let foolish comments discourage you from considering all options.
