Is Middle Eastern Studies Grad School Possible if I didn't major in it?

I'm going to a small liberal arts college in the midwest, good name with grad schools due to volume of grads in grad school, but no national rep. I really want to go to grad school in Middle Eastern Studies, but my school has no mideast studies program. We do have two years of arabic available, which I'm taking, a few sub classes, and I'll study abroad in the mideast. I'll probably do an independent project on the middle east too. Will this all be enough for me to get into a middle East studies program, even though my school has no major, minor, or concentration i can do in mideast studies?

Yes, you can go to graduate school in a field without a major or minor there. Just demonstrate your preparation through classes, study abroad, research projects, etc.

Your college recently hired someone whose specialty is Middle Eastern history. Take the classes he teaches, and get him to supervise an independent study course. You are going to want his recommendation anyway, so start sucking up to him.
