I applied to Middlebury early decision and was accepted. However, I fear that Middlebury is going to be too hard for me. I only have a 3.5 weighted GPA in a private, college preparatory high school. Even though my high school is considered very challenging (kids who come from public schools have a hard time adjusting to the workload), I’m still scared because it seems like everyone else who gets in has a 4.0. I also only got a 1890 on the SAT: 660 writing, 640 reading, 590 math. Will the work at Middlebury be impossible for me? I would like to go to law school and undergraduate GPA is really important for that.
The admissions committee would not have accepted you if they thought you weren’t capable of doing the work and being successful. Your 3.5 GPA at a private school can be equal to or better than students getting 4.0s or higher at public schools with grade inflation. I wouldn’t second guess yourself. Besides, its ED and therefore, binding. Enjoy the acceptance! Congrats!
@Zulueee You will be fine!
BUT, if you find yorself struggling, get some help early on. The school wants you to succeed and they have resources to help on study habits, paper writing, math tutoring, you name it. Congratulations on an amazing college admission, and good luck. Remember, you earned this…go out and get it!!
Congratulations on your acceptance
Like the people above said you would not be where you are today if you are not capable
Embrace the opportunity and utilize the academic help that is there in order to be successful
My son had similar feelings prior to his first year and he could not have chosen a better place to matriculate
Enjoy your next four years, work hard, stay structured and you will reach your potential
Once again congrats
Honestly, one of my 2 Midd sons had SATs much like yours. He graduated with departmental honors and latin praise. . He had an adjustment his first semester, but then adapted to the expectations.
