Is MIT rowing (crew) team any good?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if the team was any good from a student perspective. Are there any rowers on College Confidential that could tell me about the coaching? Or just General information about rowing at MIT?

I am a sporty person, and I love Rowing, Track & Fields, and to some extent, swimming.

Thanks :)

^The records are on-line. MIT rowing is division 1 and rows in the same league as the ivies. In general, Harvard/Yale/Princeton are better than MIT, but MIT is better than some of the other teams they row against (such as Naval Academy). In good years, MIT makes the finals of the Eastern Sprints (top 6-8 or something.) Every so often, MIT has a rower make the national team (probably every 5 years for each gender). I would expect that the practices at MIT are as intense as they are anywhere else.

Do you know what team you would be on? There’s a lot of differences between them.

In general, I would recommend it.
