Is most of the SAT Physics concepts based or formula based? and Which prep books do you guys recommend?
I am aiming for at least a 750. Physics is my passion.
Appreciate all the help!

bump…anyone!??
I know at least 1 person took the SAT Physics test. Please help!

I took the SAT Physics test, but it was 4 years ago and I didn’t really prep for it. If I remember correctly, most of it is concept-based since it only tests up to a high school Physics level, and no calculus is needed.
You can also do CB’s practice questions for the physics subject test; that should give you a good sampling of the types of questions.
@MITer94 THANK YOU!!! Finally! Did you have a favorite prep book like barrons or PR? Which do you recommend? I have a month left to prep. Do you have any advice?
@Salutation I didn’t really prep for it, so I can’t recommend any prep books (I took AP Physics C - mechanics and scored 5, but was underprepared for E/M. Still scored a 740).
You might want to take a “diagnostic” test to see which areas to work on. In hindsight I should’ve done this, but oh well.
I took the test in October and get Princeton Review. It is literally the best one. The test is mostly based on both, but it hardly asks you for numerical answers. Rather, they test your knowledge given the fact you know the formulas and the relationships that follow. Also, I bought ALLLLL books, and kaplan and barrons are crap. The one on CB is too easy too. PR is the way to go. Good Luck!!
@ikim16 Thank you. I am going to get the PR review book. Since this is my first time taking it and i only took regular physics before and I have only a month to prepare, I am getting mid 500s and if im lucky into the 600s.
Any advice?
i only took regular physics as well and i gotta say, its really difficult to study for it. I recommend you focus on the diagnostic test you took/will take and use that to schedule your time. I regretted overstudying silly topics such as Young’s double slit experiment and every instance of ray optics. So stick to mechanics and electricity mostly and glance over everything else since youre short on time. 700 is doable and if youre lucky, so is 800 if you take the time reading the really lengthy PR book. Best of Luck!
