Physics study books?

Any suggestions for study books for the physics sat? I’ve heard kaplan is pretty good… If you took the test and used a study book, how well did it help you? And if you don’t mind, what score did you get using the book you used?

Thank you so much! :slight_smile:

I can’t compare books, but I found the Barron’s book to be very helpful. I had only taken Physics I before the subject test, so you definitely need to do some prep beforehand since ~half the material is from Physics II. Barron’s did a good job of explaining all the Physics II concepts and providing example problems that were fairly similar to the actual test. I can’t vouch for the practice tests because I didn’t take them, but Barron’s has a pretty good reputation of giving difficult and comprehensive practice tests. If you work through the entire book and take the practice tests, I think you have a great chance of getting an 800. To give you reference, I made a 4 on the Physics I AP, and by cramming the day before until 3 AM I managed to get a 790. Be forewarned that there are some general knowledge questions that will not be covered in any prep book, but if you aware of current scientific ventures you should be fine.

I would recommend Princeton Review. It does sometimes get a bit confusing (so use other resources), but most of the time, it is easy to read and concise. I had also taken AP Physics 1 but was lacking in the Physics 2 knowledge, so I used Princeton to patch it up for me. Glad to say I got 800 on SAT Physics :slight_smile:

@Gh0st3737 and @scorpion110 ,
Thank you both so much for responding, and congratulations on both of your great scores!
