I have a 4.39 weighted gpa, took AP Calc AB, AP Phys 1, and AP Chem last year as a junior, Currently in AP Calc BC and Multivariable, AP Physics C, AP CS and AP English Lang as a senior.
Straight A/A+s
SAT Math 2: 770
SAT Chem: 790
SAT Phys: 730
And a 27 on the ACT
I’m going to take the SAT in October, been prepping really hard. Can break 2100 in practice tests. But for now…
I’m applying to schools like UCs, CMU, USC, UIUC, U wash, gatech, and Cornell(ED).
FYI Engineering/science major
I took it twice. First time even worse. Second time ACT breakdown is E: 29, M:29, S27, R:21
I’m really disappointed by my scores. I struggle with time on the ACT, so hopefully can do better on the SAT. What would be a competitive SAT score to aim for?
What’s your approximate class rank? Cornell requires that you send ALL scores so they will see the lower ACT score as well. I’m afraid without a really decent showing on your SAT, you will have difficulty getting into a school like Cornell (especially th engineering school). You haven’t even mentioned your ECs so unless they are really solid you have little to no chance presently ED at Cornell. Good luck on the SAT exam!
Thanks! I have a lot of ECs related to engineering and science like robotics clubs and competitions, summer internships, honor societies, and math and science tutoring. I’m confident can get a better SAT score than my current ACT. I also forgot to mention that I’m an international student.
My school doesn’t offer a class rank, but based on my gpa relative to other students, I’d estimate it to be in the top tenth of my school at least.
