I am in my sophomore year of highschool, and we have to write a first draft college essay in my College and Career Readiness class (CCR).
Since I am a refugee from Guinea, I was planning on writing about a very significant traumatic incident, which has shaped my identity and changed the nature of my family as a whole. But I didn’t want it to seem like “just another immigrant story” … Any opinions?
if you personalize it and make it interesting, then you have a chance. Please do not make it too cliché. Best of luck
An essay can be termed as cliched or not based on the way it is written. Though immigrant essays are common, if you share your personal experiences and their impact on your life in an interesting way, then there is no way it would come off as cliched. Believe in what you wanna right! All the best!
Writing a college essay as a sophomore? There’s a topic to write about!
the admissions have read all kinds of stories anyways- so all the essays are cliches to them anyways. It’s how you put it that shows your personality
Thank you all!
