Is my list too reach-heavy (LACs) ?

@usualhopeful , I wasn’t factoring in Tufts syndrome. In that case, there are ways for any such kid to demonstrate sincere interest … I’m just pointing to the typical kid aiming at Williams, Amherst, Pomona, Wesleyan, Bowdoin, etc. might well put Skid on the burner as a safety.

@MiddleburyDad2 After interviewing, visiting, and writing a pretty good optional essay for a school where I was 3 ACT points above the 75th percentile, I landed a spot on the wait list; I don’t think demonstrated
interest always works.

Hobart & William Smith as a safety,
Denison as a safety. Both of these schools are merit aid generous.

@usualhopeful nothing always works. There are people who can call skid a safety. I can’t name them but I know they’re out there.

Thanks for all these suggestions guys!

@momrath I don’t live in the US currently, but I am a citizen so I don’t think I’m technically considered international in the admissions process.

@MiddleburyDad2 Do you mind telling me more how Skidmore isn’t a classical campus? I won’t have the chance to visit most of these schools, so any info helps!

@telesthesia , sure … it’s not classical … it has no buildings that represent the collegiate gothic, Italian or Spanish renaissance or classical or neo Georgian styles. Most of the buildings look like they were built in the 80s. It’s still a nice and beautiful campus, and the facilities are very nice, but I wouldn’t describe it as a classic New England LAC in its architectural appearance.

The town of Saratoga Springs makes up for a lot of that though … it is an awesome town with a lot of history.
