Is my (potential) schedule rigorous enough for UVA

I’m a current sophomore and UVA is my dream school. As it approaches time to sign up for classes next year, I would like to make choices that will help me get into the university. Assuming that ACT/SAT, essays, rank, ECs, letters of recommendation, gpa, grades, etc. are up to par; is this schedule rigorous enough. I believe that I could achieve As with a B or two in this program.

11th
IB ENGLISH HL A
IB HISTORY OF AMERICAS HL A or AP US HISTORY (undecided)
AP CHEMISTRY
AP CALCULUS AB
IB SPANISH SL A
IB ECONOMICS SL
IB FILM SL
ENTREPRENEURSHIP

12th
IB ENGLISH HL B
IB HISTORY OF AMERICAS HL B or AP EUROPEAN HISTORY
AP PHYSICS 1
AP CALCULUS BC
IB SPANISH SL B
AP STATS or IB MATHEMATICS SL
IB FILM SL B
SPORTS/ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING

This is not a chance me, as I am only a sophomore. I would like to know if this schedule is rigorous enough to have a shot at UVA.

Also, my school is an IB world school and I am an in-state legacy.

Thank you, please help

The UVA Admissions officers will evaluate your schedule to see if you are taking the “most demanding” schedule available at your school, based on the school profile. So, it depends on what your high school offers.

My school offers the IB diploma, IB individual courses, AP and advanced course. Not positive, but I think full IB is considered most rigorous at my school.

Your proposed schedule looks great. It is rigorous. Doing well with that level of rigor surely meets the requirement of “most rigorous”.

If your schedule considers Full IB to be the best program possible, you have your answer. Your school tells the colleges what is most rigorous through the school profile that they send with every transcript.

Just saying, I went to an IB school and did not do diploma but was accepted to UVA. Full diploma isn’t the only way to get in to UVA, just work hard and challenge yourself. I know plenty of diploma candidates who did not make it.

If anything this almost looks too rigorous…
I wouldn’t recommend taking 7 IB + AP classes in one year. That’s a crazy amount of work. This year I have five diploma courses and a “light” AP and it’s still a lot of work.
Plus - in your schedule you aren’t accounting for Theory of Knowledge. It’s required for at least a year and usually two.

Hey, I got accepted to UVa last week. I did the full IB diploma:

HL Literature A
HL History
HL Visual Arts

SL Math Studies
SL ESS
SL Spanish B

These were not the most rigorous courses my school offered. While, yes, the IB diploma was the most rigorous curriculum, I took Math Studies and ESS, considered to be the “easy” math and science.
However, I was extremely passionate and that reflected in my essays and extracurriculars. ESS (Environmental Systems and Societies) was not the “hardest” science but it fueled my passion for the environment, which I wrote about in one of my essays for UVa. What I’m trying to say is, don’t take courses you don’t think you can handle. Take courses you will be passionate about and will excel in. Build a persona! All of my coursed reflected my personality strongly, which (I think) they could tell from my essays.

Lastly: you’re a sophomore. Don’t stress about this too much. I decided what colleges I wanted to apply to in November of my senior year, and I couldn’t be happier. Once you start a program like IB, your work habits, interests and just yourself in general will change drastically. Trust me, looking back at the person I was in 10th grade to the person I am now after IB, I’ve changed so much. So don’t overanalyze too much! I know it can be stressful. Good luck, go hoos! <3
