Is my schedule not rigorous enough?

I’m a second year chemistry major, but I also have an additional major (in biology) and a minor (in physics). And I plan to graduate in 4 years.

I know this sounds like a lot, but the fact is that I received a lot of AP credit from my high school (which is listed on my college transcript), so even with 2 majors and 1 minor, I can get by taking about 13-14 credits average per semester. However, because my course load is relatively easy, I’m taking part in a lot of extracurriculars (which aren’t medicine related, but more about my interests such as robotics), as well as doing research with a professor.

My question is, is this acceptable to med schools? Will they view my 13-14 credits average per semester as a sign that I can’t handle rigorous courses? And will me taking part in clubs that don’t relate with medicine not look good, and they won’t help my application? Should I drop some activities and instead take some additional classes?

For my “reach” schools, I’m aiming for Johns Hopkins and NYU. Would these top schools especially look down upon this “easy” schedule? Thanks for the help folks.

Med school do not care how many credits you take per semester. Since your major will require you take mostly BCMP classes, including those that are higher levels, you are ok if you maintain a near 4.0 gpa AND a high Mcat (ie, 520+)

With regards to research, average level of research is enough, you should more concentrate on other medical ECs, such as shadowing, volunteering, good LOR and clinical services. Unless you are capable to do your research project from soup to nuts all by yourself, the UG research experience for a professor is more or less be viewed a low level technician at the best.

Regarding your desire to chase the top tier med schools, including the Free Tuition NYU, not only you need good grade/score, you also need all the stars lined up on your side when you apply, including Luck.
