This is my schedule for first semester:

MATH-M 119 BRIEF SURVEY OF CALCULUS 1
MUS-Z 103 - SPEC TOPICS IN MUSIC/NON-MAJOR
PHIL-P 100 - INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY
PSY-P 155 - INTRO TO PSY & BRAIN SCIENCES
TEL-T 101 - MEDIA LIFE

These classes give me 15 credits that I need. These are all classes that interest me, also. I was going to enroll in ENG-W 131 and Spanish, but they were closed at registration. Tell me, is this schedule too easy or does it seem okay as long as it gives me 15 necessary credits?

My son (incoming senior at another university) and I always recommend that freshmen start with an easy schedule. You have so much new stuff to learn about dorm living, getting around campus, making new friends etc., that it is best not to add more stress with a tough first-semester schedule.

My D, who will be a freshman at IU this fall, is just taking 14 hours, which includes an exercise class. She also turned down a higher level of foreign language than she was entitled to per placement test, and is starting with an easy level. We told her she can take heavier and tougher loads later once she is acclimated to life at IU.

It looks fine to me.

You can probably still get into a W131 section if you check the real time schedule of classes every day, if you want to get W131 out of the way first semester. For instance, there are two W131 sections with an open seat right now. They also sometimes open whole sections of W131 late in the registration period.
