Is my schedule too easy?

I’m planning to apply to penn state this coming fall.

Intro to Chemistry (will help for general Chemistry 1) half semester only. will run until October 17, 2015
Prin Programming
Precalculus
tennis
CPR
General Physics (maybe)

I’m debating if I should take General Physics 1 which is a Non-calculus physics, but it won’t count towards my meteorology degree at Penn state. I need to take Engineer physics which is a calculus-based physics and is only offered in the spring. So If wait will be taking it during the Spring of 2017 :frowning: :frowning:

that’s why I’m applying for the summer/fall semester at penn state. I will be taking it during the summer.

I need one more class so I can fulfill my social science requirement and 6 credits for arts.

Problem with art classes is that they only offered it late, and I commute. 45 minutes each day

Thank you

Did you take physics in high school? If not, I think you should keep the general physics. Even if you did, it doesnt hurt to review.

Are you in a community college? High school?
Have you taken any community college courses yet?
Are you trying to enter Penn State as a freshman or a transfer?
If a freshman, most colleges won’t let you take any courses before you go there if you have already graduated HS.
If you are tryign to get any merit scholarships, this is important.
If you are trying to go as a transfer, talk to someone at your CC to see what courses woudl transfer.

@bopper I’m a community college student going to be a sophomore. I’m planning on applying for the summer/fall semester at Penn state. I have a 3.04 GPA. Is that good? I only have one C and one withdraw due to a class I didn’t have to take.

I would say that your schedule looks too easy…you should be doing what you would normally be doing as a freshman /sophomore whereever you might go.

I would really try to talk to your advisor at your CC or contact someone at Penn State in the admissions office. about how to position your self for transferring.

See the following for admissions req:

Also see which courses transfer:

I’m going to visit Penn State this week, so I’m going ask questions to see what I should take! Thank you anyways

OP is “behind schedule” in a couple different subjects, so I don’t know how they could really follow the recommended academic plan. A typical engineering freshman would have taken Calc 1 and Chem 1 first semester, with Calc 2, Chem 2 (if required), and Physics 1 second semester (plus gen eds, econ, etc.). Sophomore year would start off with Physics 2, Calc 3 and/or DiffEq, and maybe Orgo 1. Looking up the plan for meteorology now, it seems to be somewhat similar: http://www.ems.psu.edu/current_undergrad_students/academics/course_scheduling/UP

I hope your advisor meeting goes well! Make sure to stop at the Creamery while you’re on campus

I’m technically only five classes behind. Not counting my general requirements just the meteorology requirements.
General chemistry 110 ( chem 2 if necessary, I don’t have to take it)
Calculus 1 and 2
Physics 211 and 212

I only need calculus one to be admitted to the program

You need to take organic Chemistry for engineering??? Okay then.

Yeah, several types require Orgo 1 and some Orgo 2 as well. I envy you your lack of it, haha.

I wish I could take classes like that maybe for one semester.

So It looks like I will be staying at my community college for awhile  I need calculus 3, and my goal is Linear Algebra. I’m in Pre-calculus so I have a lot of math courses to go from here. hehe
