My sophomore year first semester I had a massive drop in my grades and the feeling of coming home with that report card was awful. My Junior year I really set my mind to studying and working hard and I think it really showed.

Now the problem is, my sophomore year practically ruined the competitive edge of my GPA. What I'm looking to go for is the progressive aspect of my transcript, showing a steady progress in my grades and showing that I can handle a heavy courseload (5 APs). Will colleges notice this?

Looking at my mini-transcript, what would you say my chances of getting into top colleges like lower Ivies(Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth) and UC's(Berkeley, LA, SD) look like in only academic terms, looking and comparing my GPA, AP and SAT scores alone (leaving extra curriculars out because it becomes too complicated and subjective)

I don’t know what your gpa is…I don’t feel like doing the math…but you have 9 B’s under your belt and that is pretty much a hinderance to your acceptance…Any reason why grades were so low that faithful year? Here’s a plus though, you showed some decent improvement and they may work to your advantage…How much remains to be answered…Good luck to you.

I really don’t know, those B’s are killer. I’ve been to many Ivy League info sessions, they say that B’s seriously tarnish transcripts. But you do show positive improvement with your junior year grades, so it’s worth a shot, they’ll take into account how your soph year will have affected your GPA, but how your junior year you improved tenfold. Yeah, Good luck!!!
