is my topic too cliche?

I've decided to write my common app essay about crohn's disease. i REALLY don't want it to be another, boring, cliche essay. I wrote it so it narrates one of my IV infusions, and is about the things I have learned and the "good" things that have come from having a chronic disease.

Is this a new approach to the dreaded "disease" topic, or is it still too cliche?

The thing is, every essay has a bit of a cliche in it. It's your job to spin it and make it into something unique. The premise and general idea is the same, but it's the details within the story that makes you stand out.

thanks!
is anyone willing to read my 1st draft and tell me if my spin on it is creative enough?

Send it over, I'd love to see (if it' snot too long) lol

i'll be glad to read it

Just in case you want to put it in your essay, you should know that "cliche" is the noun, and "cliched" the adjective.

So your essay might be cliched if you include too many cliches

You may think this is nitpicky, but I assure you the essay readers notice that kind of error.

it was definitely not "cliched"..definitely one of the better essays I have read on CC! :]

I'd like to read it too if you don't mind

Your essay can be about anything you want, as long as the reader learns a lot about you from it. Grammar mistakes are noticed.

hey i'll read it, PM me=) IV's make me queasy in real life, but I don't think I'll mind actually reading about them, lol.

oh i wouldn't mind reading it either! PM me!

OK. I'll try to read it.
pm me
