i got their letter today and am wondering if it really is a scam, i read some posts about this after googling but i just want to make sure

It's a scam to get your money for that book...you can trace their address back to a "Mailbox Etc." mailbox...that "prestigious" DC address is nothing more than that.

i got this in the mail today too... sounds like bs to me...

yes it is useless.

Got it for our D, tossed it.

completely useless. In fact, listing it on your app might make you look dumb in front of admission officers.

throw it away

I got it too. I think that it's a scam. However, you don't have to buy their book to get the "honor." So, it doesn't hurt to fill out the reply form.

i got one tooo; what i did was that i.......i forgot that it existed.

This blog post from a parent tells it all
