Is National Honors Society even worth joining?

for resume padding purposes? Everybody in my class with a grade point average higher than 85% was invited to apply.

In other words, will it hurt if you don't join NHS?

Don't join to pad your resume (unless you can become an officer, that is) since, unless you are really dedicated to it, it's just another generic EC that 8/10 applicants to top 20 colleges have. The value of NHS varies from school to school. If you feel that it is worth doing, go for it! If not, it's not going to hurt your chances that you weren't involved.

I doubt it'll do anything either way--it def. won't tip an college decision one way or the other since there actually is a large percent of the population that has an 85% or higher. I think on another thread, many people agreed that it was a waste of time.

thanks ^
