Is No Sports Bad?

Does having no sports or non-varsity sports look bad to colleges? What if your focus is more on music and academics?

Any experience would be nice.

Absolutely not. As long as you have EC’s - especially ones you have stuck with for a few years, you’ll be fine. They don’t care if you’re in chorus/band or sports or student council or any other activity. It’s not WHAT you do, it’s how dedicated you have been and what type of contribution you have made to the organization. Good luck!

No, plenty of people apply without any sports whatsoever. Focus on what you are passionate about and what you excel in and you will be fine. Colleges realize there is limited time in the day, you can’t do everything, nor do they expect you to. People have their own strengths and weaknesses. I applied without music or sports, and I turned out to be fine. Rather, I focused on my own interests and strengths. Good luck!

Hi, I think no sport is bad for body but not as bad for college >)

It is ok if you no sport, but for health alone sport is good, and I think that is better reason than for college ;)

No, the sports wont really matter unless you apply to schools where they have big sports programs. What the colleges like about athletes is the ability to work around the hours required for practice and meets; it is a really good time management skill to be able to show balance along with a high GPA.

Nope. Both DSs got into the same schools - one a serious athlete who could have been recruited, but decided to go the standard app route, and the other a nerdy couch potato with no sports at all in his ECs. You will be fine.
