Is Northwestern good for engineering

I'm a aspiring northwestern university engineering student and I was wondering if Northwestern was good for engineering

It’s excellent!

Is it good for mechanical engineering

First rate.

Northwestern is a top school in a lot of programs and mechanical eengineering is definitely one of them. Make sure your high school grades and test scores are strong enough to be considered for admission.

What about cornell

NU is great for engineering. However, if you can get in MIT or Caltech you should not be here. Don’t know much about Cornell.

I have no interest in mit or caltech

Cornell is better for engineering except perhaps IE, and particularly computer-related engineering. And Cornell is probably more difficult. But NU is very good, and I think the campus experience would be better at NU.

Cornell has an edge over Northwestern in engineering, especially in EECS, where Cornell is one of the best in the world and NU is relatively low in the rankings. Both Cornell and Northwestern are elite in IEMS (at NU) and ORIE (at Cornell), while many universities do not have entire departments devoted to operations research. Materials science, while a small undergraduate major, is NU’s highest ranking engineering department. Cornell is especially strong in engineering physics.

My dad went to Vanderbilt for undergrad, and went to Northwestern for Grad, both for electrical and biomedical engineering. It is a fantastic program!

NU engineering is super awesome!
