Is NYU Steinhardt's Classical Voice program bad?

I know this may be a biased place to ask this question, but I’m not sure where else to ask.
I recently had the fortune of meeting a woman who has had much success in the opera and classical singing world (has sung at the Met numerous times, teaches at Juilliard) who told me to not apply to NYU if I want to study classical singing. She said she has had a few of her students go to Steinhardt and they came out worse singers than they were beforehand. She then pointed me in the direction of alternative music schools.
Can any provide arguments in support or against these claims? Is NYU Steinhardt’s classical voice program bad? Or, at least not as good as other schools’ voice programs or even other programs at NYU? I’m going to apply to NYU either way, just trying to determine to which major.

You should be posting in the music major’s forum. Lots of info there!
