I have a friend that will study nursing at NYU and she will have to pay around $22k for tuition alone. I think that is absolutely crazy considering she will have to take out loans since her family does not make nearly as much to cover the costs. What do you guys think?

There are multiple posts like this on the forum.
No school is worth crazy debt with the same size of a mortgage.

well i would agree it’s not worth it if you can’t pay for it.

It depends how much her loans are and if/how much financial aid she gets. There are (very few) people who do get large financial aid packages, as well as scholarships. But yes, it’s probably unwise to end up with over $30k in loans.

I’m asking this because I’m in a similar situation. I’ve committed to Poly and I’m starting to regret it since I’ll probably drown in debt.

Yeah, you should probably look into graduating early and getting a part-time job.

The Federal limit for all four years of (currently) $31,000 seems to be generally considered the maximum reasonable amount of debt, especially reasonable if it’s the difference between degree and no degree.
