Next year im takin: AP Bio or AP chem (Im not sure yet), AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, College Anatomy and Physiology

Im taking NYU precollege over the summer and going to take biology.

Extracurriculars: Interact club, equality club, i did 60 hours volunteering at a religion camp, 150 hours volunteering/interning at a physical therapy clinic, currently shadowing a doctor and going to have 150+ by the time i apply, tutoring middle schoolers going to have 60+ by the time i apply, I work at my dad's store many hours a week, and I am going to start volunteering at another clinic hopefully if they accept me, did cross country freshman and sophomore year, I also go to the gym a lot (i dont know if this would count)

Awards/ Honors: going to be in the honor society next year, won a religion contest in my temple, which required us to read a textbook and take a test on it. i had received first place and won a 42 inch TV

My guidance counselors knows my drive and is going to give me an excellent recommendation letter, my physics teacher will give me an amazing one, the doctor i am currently shadowing will also write me one, and I will try to get the biology professor at NYU precollege to write me one.

I am taking the SAT in March and hoping to get 2000+
I am going to try and get a high score in SAT 2s for Math maybe chem.

Will NYU care a lot about the 79 in chemistry? I am really concerned about this part because I feel like this 79 just killed all my chances.
Do you think I should apply ED1 or ED2?
If I dont make NYU I will apply to Stony Brook. How are my chances for stony??

your chances at stony is very good if you have good SAT and GPA. NYU CAS shouldn’t be that hard to get in. I say if you get atleast 3.5 GPA and 1800+ SAT you’re fine.

I always thought NYU was very competitive though. Also do you think I should apply ED1 or ED2

I would say for CAS you should shoot for 2100+ as far as SATs. I just got into Stern EDII and I can tell you NYU really values high test scores.

do you think chosing between Ed1 and ed2 would make a difference? and also what was your gpa?

My friend got around 1800s and 3.8 GPA and got accepted to CAS and applied ED2.

However, for stern… that’s extremely competitive. You need more than 2100.

Can i apply to both CAS and stern? My extracurriculars show me as a student that wants to go in to medicine but that was mainly for my parents. My true passion is either finance or business. Its too late to get involved in business or finance extracurriculars. So if you had to chance me for stern, how would you say my chances are?

You can try putting more than one NYU schools on the app. Stern is very very competitive. I guess you need to show that you’re interested in business and you did many ECs on business stuff. Usually it’s one or the other. Your application has to make sense as to what you want to study usually.

If you want Stern, you have to apply directly, and if you get rejected, you get rejected from NYU. CAS, on the other hand, you might be LSP’ed, which means that you can go to CAS after 2 years.

Stern is a bit more competitive, and a SAT of around 2100-2200 and GPA of 3.7 + is ideal for admission. Additionally, you don’t need ‘finance’ or ‘business extracurriculars’. Just do what you love, and you’ll be fine.

My parents kind of forced me to do medicine related extracurriculars, but so i didnt get to do any extracurriculars focused on business or finance. Is there any way I can get in to Stern with my statistics?

I think this same applies to all NYU schools. You apply directly to them… I did Poly. Not sure if i’m getting in.

OP: Like what the other poster said. Just get high SAT and GPA and you’re in.
