is physical education required?

2 credits are required here--fulfilled through a wellness or nutrition or healthy living class. Easy A for your freshman year

Yes, I took PE every yr. of my school life except for sophomore year. I took 6 academic class that year and decided I would never do that again because Gym is pretty fun and relaxing period to just kinda get away from all the school crap.

You guys miss the point that PE can be fun too. It doesn't have to be all boring or all stupid. If people take it seriously, it's enjoyable, and plus you can make new friends by playing sports and doing things you like to do.

It should be mandatory all 4 yrs. But in my high school, you only have to take it freshman yr. and it's optional for the next 3 yrs.

PE was mandatory at my old school, but not where I'm at now. I might take a PE as an elective though because it's relaxing and fun. They usually are an easy A as long as you give it some effort and show up prepared.

Some bigger schools have more stuff. I know someone who took karate as a PE class; I'd personally take basketball if I was scheduling one. I played basketball for five years and I'd love to get back into the game, even if it's just for fun/intramural.

We don't even get a grade for PE. It's either pass or fail for us. As long as you show up to class and are at least doing something, whether it's walking or playing, you're fine.

I don't think that PE should be mandatory. By the time you get to college you should be old enough to make your own decisions on such a simple matter. Exercise for your own good; you shouldn't need someone to tell you to do it. Sign up for intramurals, go for a hike, or hit the gym. Just get out and do whatever... you'll feel better.
