Recently I decided to switch majors, and I need to take MAT 171 before I take Calculus (which is precalc algebra at my community college), but I’m worried because I haven’t taken an algebra class in a while and I hear precalc is pretty frustrating. I was just wondering if Precalc algebra is a review of algebra from high school, so I know what I am up against when I start my next semester soon. As far as I know, I know that it does throw in some fundamental ideas from Calculus like limits etc. So is it a review of algebra, or does it just build on from high school algebra, or is it both?
Probably covers content usually covered in a high school precalculus course commonly taken in 12th grade by non-advanced-in-math students (or earlier for advanced-in-math students). High school algebra 2 or equivalent would be a prerequisite for this course.
I did pretty well in Algebra 2 and 3, but it’s been well over a year since I’ve taken both of those.
