Generally speaking, “premedical studies” refers to a selection of courses that a student who plans on a career in medicine takes to prepare themselves for medical school. At UMass Amherst, this is listed as my major. Can someone explain to me how this works and why UMass does premed this way?
Just to be clear, I already know that it makes no sense to call premed a major. Does this just mean that I’m undeclared, but that I have agreed to take the classes required to apply to medical school?
Pre-med is not a major. Like you said it’s just a set of courses the school suggests you take to prepare you for the MCAT. You will eventually have to declare a true major once you get here. Many CNS majors overlap with the pre-med track, but honestly you can pick any major that interests you the most.
