Hello guys. My sister, who currently attends Harvard, and I, who will be attending Princeton in the fall, are having an argument and we would like your opinions on the following issue:

Is Princeton more prestigious than Yale?

Please post your opinions, so that we can see which one of us has the popular support. I know this is a forum for Princeton, but please try to be honest!

I think people like Yale a lot more than Princeton because a lot of people associate Princetonians with being arrogant a$sholes......as i have recently been called one lately and NOT in the joking manner.

I think they're both equally prestigous, but Yale is more "friendly"

Just my thoughts on it from what i've heard and experienced.

As much as I love Princeton, to the average person, Yale is more prestigious, because they hear the name more often cause of the grad school, etc. But I think that, to a person "in the know", Princeton is more prestiguous.

I thought you already signed up on the "Officially Going to Princeton Thread" and that you've been going around telling everyone you're going...

i think both schools are equally reputed...but what u major in would impact more on the perceived 'reputation' for example...if u plan to go to law school after ur undergrad...then yale could be perceived as 'better reputation' but if u plan to major in math/econ, etc. i'd say pton...

Which is more prestigious?
I'd love to say Princeton - WITHOUT A DOUBT. But I think I'll play it safe and just ditto pwettyfish's answer. The general public probably think Yale, the people-in-the-know probably think Princeton, and the Princetonians know they're amazing so they really don't care. :D
