You're grandmother went to Columbia? Wasn't it all boys when she was young? Well, I guess it depends how old she is. Your english teacher is an english teacher. He chose not to make money. Millionaires usually get that way with business, and Harvard is not a great business school. Surgery requires manual skill (i.e. with hands) so that has to do with coordination. Harvard can't teach coordination.

And some people value the quality of education over how much money is made. And by the way, try to find a top psychologist/mathematician/scientific genius/top anthropologist from Defiance College or Wabash college. You probably won't find one. Some people have different priorities. Going to any college is better than going to no college, but the quality of that college actually does matter. And I know billionaires, even, that didn't go to great colleges, and guess what? A lot of them regret it, because they all send their kids to top schools and colleges.

and the chances their kids wil become as successful as their parents who are billionares is slim. 7 people from York Prep went to Harvard in 2005, 4 went to george town, 2 went to yale and 3 went to NYU, 2 went to Boston University. It goes to show you they made the best of the school and anyone can go to those schools it just requires dedication and good study skill not this high school you go to. It does not matter what high school you go to it just matters on how well you do and what you make of it. Also, the admission faculty would rather accept someone to harvard who has straight a's and has a 1900 on their SAT and attends South Bronx Prep rather than somone who gets a 2400 on their sat and is from Scarsdale. Colleges want other schools to have a chance at getting accepted to top colleges that is why each year scarsdale is not getting accepted and accepted to top colleges. They had to make dramatic changes in the math, science department because it was not comparable to most public school in New York.

The person from Horace Mann going to Harvard will be better prepared than the person coming from Bronx Prep going to Harvard.

York can't be compared to the good private day schools. York compares to Dwight compares to Birch Wathen Lenox. All three are schools stocked with reject kids and a few others who go there because their ignorant parents thought those schools were good.

Let's agree to disagree. And let's see if you'll get into Harvard next year like you seem to imply. A B- in a math class that you've already taken isn't good. Is it honors, at least? Whatever. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you prove your theory about going to a bad school making you a millionaire correct.

Meanwhile, I'll do my thing and try to get into the best college possible.

So... right. Let's just agree to disagree. :) Okay?

well the kids that graduate there go to good colleges and the school is comparable to scarsdale. I find the classes tough and I came from scarsdale high school; however, that does not mean the sacrsdale high school and york prep are challenging high schools. They are simply above average schools.

I just meet with my dean today and she said that about 20-35 % of kids at york are accepted to Ivy league schools but most are attached to the small atmosphere, thus influencing them to apply to small colleges. However, she makes everyone apply to schools like NYU and some other comparable schools. In addition, Ms.Stweart, my dean, said that 20% of kids last year were accpeted to NYU and 4 students were accepted to Harvard, but only 2 went to NYu and no one went to Harvard. She even showed me the accpetance letters because I could not believe her.

Its strange I may say; however, its true. Now that I think about it I would rather go to a small college. My frined ashely who attends York prep but is so smart that she and several other students attend NYU to take Organic Chemistry and Literatrue. Despite this, ashely wants to go to a small college upsate and the two other girls want to become fashion designers. See, this you oversee, the talent these kids have.

If most of them get accepted to good schools but chose not to go, that does not mean the school is bad that just means that they are making a inteligent decesion that will linger with them throught their whole lives. Now there are the stupid kids in my school that take remedial calsses that will probably go to community college but to say that York is a below average school is misleading.

I used to attend scarsdale high school; and my overall grades were in the B range but my psat scores were really bad. In fact, it was so poor that I was not going to any college except manhattanvile (That was a reach) Now I attend york prep a competitive school and I shaped up a lot. I take two honors classes and the rest are second honors; however they both get honors credit. When I was at scarsdale I never really read any books (this is probably the reason why I got a 80ish on my psat.) This summer, I read a couple books and confirmed by progress by taking the Psat during October. This was, however, during my repeated 11th grade year. If my sat scores go up to the 1600 or 1800s, how will colleges look at this? My other deans said they really wont care just as long as I am taking harder classes and my sat goes up dramatically. Please give me your feedback.

Well, heck. Let me see here. You go to a good school, eh? You messed up a bit. And then you did not let the messing up break you!! That is good. So, you obviously got some good advice or shaped up a bit and pulled yourself up by the bootstraps.

so...

You have to keep on trying and striving. And, please, keep on reading more. Find the time to read more! Seriously. Keep up on that. Can you take the psat's over? And then take the sat's? I am just wondering, because to an admissions officer, taking that one test over would be in keeping with your pulling yourself up by your bootstraps thing you have going on.

Well, I have not a blessed clue as to these schools you folks are referring to. But, I do know that Bababasjd needs to keep on keeping on with this progress.
