Is RIBS (Research in Biological Science) a good program?

Is this program recognized as a serious summer program? Can it help with admissions?

I did RIBS quite a while ago and ended up at UChicago. I remember it being pretty intense (at least back then) as you are literally in the lab all day long. You also get 2 elective credits once you enter, which is a plus. I am not sure if it helps with admissions, but I think it helped with my essays as I knew more about the school/campus/college life than someone who didn’t do a program here. There were 3 other people in my year from RIBS that ended up at UChicago. I know of at least one person who did RIBS but ended up being rejected EA.

I think you should do RIBS if you are genuinely interested in bio research and want to know what campus life feels like at UChicago.

japstudent12 thank you so much.

yes, yes, yes!! I just finished this program this summer, and I was in love with it. By far the best summer program I’ve ever seen. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I learned so much, and I’m carrying a lot of what I did into an independent study this coming year.
