If i want to hopefully go to med school after college is Rutgers a school that would help me get into med school. I know they have some kind of affiliation with the Robert Wood Johnson Med School because i saw they have a special 7 year program with them. They also have a pre-med major so i thought that Rutgers would probably be a good school if i want to try and get into med school. Does anyone know if there is a lot of pre-med people at Rutgers?? Does anyone know if Rutgers has a good rep for getting kids into Med School??

yea Rutgers is pretty good for premed. i know a lot of people who chose to go to Rutgers for premed. Also Rutgers does have an affiliation with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. However just to let you know there is no such thing as a premed major and basically every college offers premed. By the way, im hoping to do premed in Rutgers too...if i get in.

Hey I'm a premed student at Rutgers majoring in Biochemistry and Philosophy. There is no pre-med major at any school. However, you will have no problem getting into medical school IF you do well here. There is good advising, but Rutgers is a large university so you will have to be pro-active and get involved. There are many, many students that attend Rutgers and plan to go on to medical school. If you have any questions, ask.

thanx for the info guys, i'm really happy that Rutgers is a good place for people that someday want to go to med-shool because in my frosh year of school i didnt really do that good because i used to go to public school for elementry and know i go to a private school for high school, which is alot more competative. So even though im doing well as a junior now, im not sure if i will be able to get into a big name university b/c my frosh year pulled down my gpa so much, but i think i have a good chance at getting into Rutgers becuase my gpa know is about 3.3 or so and i live in NJ so im just really happy that i will still have a good shot at fufilling my dreams of becoming a doctor someday.

Supermtt37 - how do you like being a premed student do you find it rediculousy hard or is it barable?? Also, how are you finding the Rutgers advisors as far as the amount of comitment and success that they have at getting kids into medschool?? And what do you mean by getting involved? I always thought that medschool pretty much just cared how your grades were and how your MCAT's are, not wether or not you helped on the school newspaper.

P.S. - Sorry for any spelling mistakes im typing this pretty fast :)

one more question for supermtt - how come on Rutger's website under majors they have a pre-med major??what do they mean by that if your saying they dont have one?

Almost any college will have a "pre-med major". However, it really isnt a major. Pre-med is basically courses you need to take in order to get into medical school. These courses would be biology, physics, english, chemistry, and calculus. Your actual major doesnt have to be science related to get into medical school, although it may help. I hope this answers your question.

ya that answers it fine, what you said makes alot of sense

As a parent in this economy I’d like to offer my daughter a good opportunity for a premed program. Would you recommend the Cook Campus for a premed student at rutgers in New Brunswick or would she have to apply to the Newark Campus.

New Brunswick has a stronger reputation academically. That is not to diminish Newark which is also a good school. However if she can get in to New Brunswick and can handle a big school take it. The campus is larger providing more opportunities.

which dorm is the best?..i heard douglas is the good…
i got into rutgers new brunswick for fall 2011…
