Got accepted to SJSU and was wondering how good the school is for Business? I know it is not the best, but is it at least good?

Reputation-wise it is lacking. This matters because employers will always measure you with alumni from other schools in the area, which means you will be stacked against Stanford and Berkeley grads.

Academically, it is not bad.

Bump? Bump? Bump?

The order of the rankings of US News and World Report can be seriously debated, but it definitely means something (and not something good) when a university overall, its undergraduate business program, and its graduate business program are all three completely unlisted in the national rankings. You certainly are not going to be able to rely on San Jose’s reputation at all, unless it has a strong reputation locally among employers / hiring managers and you are only interested in local jobs. You are pretty much going to be on the same level as all the other accredited non-profits in the nation.

GoalsOriented’s post is 100% correct. As an undergrad, your college’s reputation is extremely important when applying for business positions. Although SJSU isn’t “bad” academically, its definitely a non-target. Try to get admitted to a better college or transfer to target once you begin your undergrad.

it’s really a joke. the professors aren’t the best, the students often cheat their way through school.

if you’re majoring in accounting it is a great school to attend.
