I recently visited UPenn and I must say that it impressed me. However, I'm wondering how strong is the computer science department at UPenn. I know UPenn is most known for Wharton, and my mom says that even WUSTL would be a better choice for computer science.
So should I apply to SEAS at UPenn for computer science? And if I get admitted there, can I cross-register with Wharton or other schools?

Penn has a much better CS faculty than WashU, not even close. They are highly regarded for their academics and research.

Penn computer science is very good, far better than WashU. Departments like Penn/Columbia/Princeton/Yale are all top notch, but smaller than the big CS schools like MIT/CMU/Berkeley.

For the record, Penn is known for A LOT more than just Wharton. It has many liberal arts departments that are ranked among the top 10 or top 20 in the country (as many as Columbia and Duke, for example, and significantly more than Brown, WUSTL, and many other peer schools), and a top-20 Computer Science program. It has one of the top bioengineering departments in the country. It has one of the top communications schools (Annenberg), one of the top graduate schools of education, one of the top nursing schools, one of the top design schools, one of the top law schools, one of the top medical schools, one of the top veterinary medicine schools, and several other top programs and facilities (e.g., one of the top museums of anthropology and archaeology in the world). And yes, it also has one of the top business schools in the country.

And MOST of those programs and courses (including Wharton courses, and even courses in the law school) are available to all Penn undergrads, including those in SEAS. :)
