Hi, everyone. I am an international student. I intend to apply this school. Is this a good place to pursue pure mathematics? Does this school have a good preparation for graduate level ( cause I intend to study higher, too)? Has anyone who graduated from this school got accepted to top 10 university when they wanted to pursue a PhD degree? Thanks.
Take a look at its course offerings to get an idea of how much it offers in math. It’s a good school that should prepare you for grad school, but I don’t know what it offers for math specifically without googling it, which is your job.
As for where students go to grad school, that’s something you’d have to ask the chair of the math dept or find on their website.
For mathematics, SUNY-Albany has a strong program and is worth considering as well.
IMO SUNY StonyBrook has the most highly regarded math department in the SUNY system. It is my alma mater, and I have a math degree from there, but I am not a huge advocate for the school overall, but the math is very strong. That being said I am sure you do well at Buffalo depending on what your goals are.
