Hi, I’m hoping to get advice from people who have taken a similar number of AP and honors, whether or not the workload is manageable. Everyone tells me 2 AP classes and 2 honors is way too much, but they are classes I am genuinely interested. This will be for my junior year, my school does not really let 9th and 10th graders take honors/APs. My classes are:
AP US History
AP Environmental science
Honors American Literature
Chinese 4 honors
Outside of school, I play a sport, have an internship and am in 3 clubs.
If you have been taking a rigorous course load leading up to your junior year, you should be able to handle it but at the end of the day you are the only one that knows how much coursework is too much? At Ds school, most of the top students are taking at least the above their sophomore, junior, and senior years.
I think you will be fine tbh. I am a sophomore taking 2 APs and 2 honors, and my workload could honestly be worse. The only thing that I would say might give you trouble is APUSH. I am assuming you’ve never taken an honors/AP history class, but they’re extremely difficult. Of course, this depends on the school but APUSH and AP Euro are usually notorious for workload and course rigor. It’s junior year, arguably the most important for colleges. Push yourself, and if you think you can handle it and you’re interest in it, I think you can do it. Hope this helped! Good luck!
No, it seems just about right, although the amount of advanced classes one can handle varies wildly by person and depends on other commitments, like ECs.
As a sophomore, i took 3 AP 1 Honors first semester and am currently taking 2 AP 2 Honors second semester. If YOU enjoy the classes or can at least tolerate them enough to do well in them then take them. Don’t let anyone discourage you from taking a rigorous course load!
It looks right for a junior and certainly not over ambitious if you’ve been doing well so far. Adults on this forum typically have to dissuade juniors from taking 5 or 6 AP’s
What else would you be doing?
