Is Taking AP World History Worth It?

I will be a junior next year, and the AP History my school offers junior year is World. I am interested in science and engineering, but it would an interesting class to take. However, I am taking two more classes and have a lot going on in terms of extracurriculars. I’m sure I could handle the workload, but is taking World worth it? It would obviously take up time that I could have spent self-studying other classes or exploring extracurriculars, and many colleges don’t offer credit for the class anyway. Any advice would be appreciated.

Self studying should probably be at the bottom of your list of things to do with your time. Colleges would much prefer that you pursue demanding courses offered in your school than self studying.

If you’re interested in world history, take the class. If you’re not, and you can put together a rigorous schedule without it, don’t take the class.

@skieurope Unfortunately, I went to see guidance today and I had to drop it in favor of AP Chem; I really appreciate the response though, and I will keep that in mind going forward.
