Just wondering, because I teach piano at the moment and am thinking of expanding it to more than just a few students. Will making a decent amount of money (several thousand per year) off of piano look good to colleges?

my son plays the piano as well. I suggested to him something I thought would be a very good EC. He has yet to pursue the idea.
Why don’t you voluntarily play for a nursing home or two once a week.
You may could talk some of your musically talented friends into doing the same thing.
You may could arrange a schedule and have your class mates volunteer for different days or times.
You may could even create a name for your organized group. If it works well enough and you find others wanting to participate for EC’s, then you may find a second and third nursing home with schedules for each.
At some point, you will have created an organization that will cause college admissions to definitely take notice.
Just think of all the joy you would bring those people. When you go to college, you could do the same thing in a new town where college students are looking for good EC’s.
You may just start something BIG!

I’ve actually played for nursing homes several times, but I’ve never thought of starting an organization to perform there. Thanks a lot for the idea; I’ll consider it for the summer!
