Is Texas Grant still available for 2011-2012 school year???

Is Texas Grant still available for 2011-2012 school year? I'm a first in my family to go to college, my financial aid doesnt cover all the tuition, housing, etc... fees. Where can I borrow the money?

My financial/awards/loans total is $16,000 but the tuition, housing, etc.. fees at my school (UTSA) is $21,000. I don't get how the awards will be distribute. Is it.. if I cant get all $21,000 by deadline = i cannot not attend ? :( . Or my currently financial aid will distribute to me month by month... until it run out.. while i'm look for other available aids?...

Please help me, I'm really confuse.

Aid is usually distributed by semester. So probably half your aid will be distributed in the fall, the other half in the spring. Most direct expenses for the semester (tuition, room and board) are charged to you at the beginning of the semester. The financial aid for the semester is offset against the charges. If your aid does not cover all the charges, you will have to come up with the difference - and very soon (when will depend on the school - we had one school where it was due by the first day of the semester, another where it was the 15th of the month following the start of the semester). Some schools may have programs where you can pay the balance monthly over the semester - but you need to organize that with the school and make sure the funds are there to make the payments.

You need to figure how you are going to pay the balance before you start school. Do not start and hope money will magically appears. It generally does not. And once you start school you will owe those bills whether you end up being able to stay in the school or not (if you don’t pay them, you will not be able to continue at the school and the outstanding bills will probably incur interest).

I don’t know specifically about the Texas Grant, but if it is not in your FA award, it seems likely you are not getting it. Schools generally include everything in your award that you are eligible for. If you think you are eligible and should be getting it, you need to ask your school immediately.

Just to let you know that texas grant has been distributed at most schools in Texas already so the chance of receiving it is slim to none.
