I live in Texas and dont have enough money to go to a prestigious school so I have more chance at getting scholarship at Texas Tech than say UT or A&M, but I could get loans, does undergrad school really matter, if so what is the best undergrad school to go in Texas to become an Investment Banker?
And have y'all heard of IBtraining.com's boot camp? I'm 16 and want to join this for the summer, it's rare that a 16 year old, they're mainly undergrads and up, but they said they'll accept me. It's a 10 - week training program/boot camp, for investment banking. Will it look good on my resume? On my application? And is Texas Tech good??? Thanks everyone!

I don’t know much about the IB bootcamp thing, but I think it is going to be VERY VERY difficult to get a job in IB from Texas Tech. If you want to stay in Texas for school, then I think your best bets would be UT and Rice. SMU has a great alumni network and a solid name if you want to work in Texas. Even TCU and A&M wouldn’t be nearly as bad as Texas Tech.

See the problem is that I didn’t mature until sophomore beginning of junior year, I’m in like top 25% but idk if UT school of business (McComb) will accept me, maybe if I could transfer, and I just took SAT today and probably got 1700, would I make UT? And I don’t have a lot of money for college

Try to transfer to Texas after 2 years. Work hard and save money for 2 year then try to transfer.

Should i transfer after 2 or after 1? Whats more minigful, i know the first 2 years are like highschool classes (taking what you dont want) but there are other classes (especially during second year) that you could start to focus on you major/career path. And i could definaltey start making more connections and networking and also taking advantage of all the activitied/clubs/lectures that McCombs can offer, Rawls school of business within texas tech can also be a contributing school but to what I have read and researched, UT McCombs would be more rewarding, though I am overt to the 2 years at Texas Tech due to my financial status, I just need perfect confirmation i guess

After however many. Just ■■■■ of there!!!

Haha alright sure will, what school would y’all rather go to Tech or UTSA?

I went to UTSA for CAP and am now at UT. Best decision ever. The chances of you getting into IB from Tech are slim to none. It’s just not a very good school. YOur best bet is to transfer somewhere.

Omg that’s what I’m thinking of doing, UTSA to UT, how did you do it? Was your GPA 4.0? What classes did you have to take? What where your SAT scores? How long after you entered UTSA did you transfer to UT? I have tons of questions

Feel free to PM me, I’d be happy to answer any of your questions, Grivacobae. I don’t want to bog down this thread with a bunch of personal things, though.

Sweet thanks, PMed you :)

TTU is a respected feeder school for the big 4 accounting firms. Ironically, my research indicates sometimes lower ranked schools have better on campus recruiting than higher ranked schools form USNEWS. For example UT Dallas is higher ranked than TTU, but TTU has better job placement at respected firms in Texas. If you want to get into investment banking from a non-target school, first get into “transaction advisory services” from the big 4. TAS is similar to investment banking, and gives you a good shot at switching to investment banking from the big 4. You even have a shot at breaking into private equity from TAS, albit a smaller one though. If your in texas UT Austin Mccombs is your best bet for investment banking.
